Motivation
What motivates people especially lame duck Presidents and Secretary’s of States to do the things they do. Either good or bad. Money, Fame, wanting to help the world, love of country, patriotism, peace, destiny and greed. Never in my life have I ever seen so many people in the US Government and Europe rush to put pressure on Israel to give up so much and get nothing from a peace agreement. It almost reminds me of the 1973 Vietnam Peace Treaty when Henry Kissinger strong armed South Vietnam into a agreement that would end in tragedy 2 years and later 2 million lives sacrificed in Cambodia. It also reminds me of course to the rush for the Munich Accords with Neville Chamberlain in 1938.
Quite frankly destiny and greed are the reasons not world peace at least in this case. It's not a secret that after political careers are over in addition to the lifetime retirement benefits politicians make a sizeable sum in speaking fees around the world. Adding to that if a peace agreement is made the Nobel Peace Prize and also the additional cost to speaking fees Presidents and Secretaries of State can make a hefty fortune. Olmert and Peres would also be involved in this financial bonanza making untold dollars in speaking fees and political consulting. That does not concern me what concerns me it is the amount of Saudi Money that can be added to this mix in the form of consulting fees and speaking fees and business deals that possibly could come later after President Bush's and Secretary of State Rice term is up. Take a look at the Ex President Carter runned Carter Center for Peace and their donations. I had a previous article on this subject. One has to go no further than Google to find instances of Saudi Influence. Here is a article about Saudi Influence in the Washington Post.

Also a good book that explains Saudi Influence is the "House of Bush, House of Saud: The Secret Relationship Between the World's Two Most Powerful Dynasties" by Craig Unger. Here is the link to Amazon and some reviews.

The moral of the story is to be careful of the motivations of your friends as they may not have your best interest at heart. Israel must push back on any bad deal at the Annapolis summit that will have a negative affect on the Jewish State's security.
